I am an artist and transdisciplinary practitioner working across diverse contexts, materials, and approaches.

My practice combines expanded, playful fieldwork with the making of works that create conditions for curiosity—inviting shared, affective, and critical engagement with institutions, places, social and physical architectures, and ecologies.

I’m an experienced facilitator with more than 20 years teaching in Higher Education with an Art and Design focus, and delivering workshops and exhibitions in a range of settings. My research, teaching, and collaborative projects are deeply informed by my ongoing art practice.

My recent projects section is somewhat partial as under construction… but you can find an archive of my past projects via the link below.

Recent projects

Models and Model-making

Completed in 2020, Exploring the Potential of Re-activating Models Through Art Practice, examined how scale models associated with Modernity can be reimagined as shared spaces for reflection and resistance – proposing modelling and prototyping as critical practice.

I used art practices to think with Svetlana Boym’s concept of the Off-Modern, embracing detours, disruptions, and alternative temporalities.

A helmet-like paper structure held in two hands. The print surface is mixellated and reminiscent of a mine-craft artefact. There is moss adorning the base of the helmet, and black dog is in the background.

At-Tend

I was invited by Re:Drift & Full of Noises to make something for their Dawn Chorus Day ‘Sound Camp’ at Eskdale Mill in Cumbria, a watermill dating to the 1500s.

At-Tend invited all present to explore at-tend-ing with care.

Re-activations

How can re-activating archival materials inform our futures?

This form of making in response to ‘dormant’or archived this, as an emergent critical processes – is explored at length in my PhD thesis – but this has long been a connecting thread between works. Some past, some recent, will accumulate here.

Drawing – Graphite on paper

A low resolution image of a text fragment from is hand-traced onto paper from a tilted laptop screen.

Georges Perec’s Species of Spaces and Other Pieces; a work that attends to the overlooked and the everyday.

The action was provisional: made during a period of grief. The reversal of the text upsets familiar navigation points. The World is hard to read.

In French, repère means a landmark, a reference point, an orientation marker—something that helps you locate yourself in space or memory. Repaire (with an a) means a hiding place, a refuge.
